I'm glad you mentioned pants.
I've been listening to all '73 all the time this week in an effort to disabuse myself of lingering prejudices towards the Godchaux-era. For the most part, it's been great. Like falling in love all over again or some such sappiness.

However, one strange effect that I've been noticing is that I think I can hear Bobby's pants. Whenever Ace steps up to the mic, there's something in his voice that I can just tell he's wearing hip-hugger bellbottoms.

Dunno about the hip-huggers, but he hits a note during Bobby McGee, 4/14/72 Copenhagen, that sounds like a backed into a lonely eskimo...
